Let’s get ready to tumble!

Yesterday I took Sam to see her cousin Lucy compete in an area gymnastics meet. Teams from all around the region — from Pennsylvania to Virginia — met in a small suburban gym tucked in an industrial park to flip and spin and jump and twirl for a day. Lucy competed in two events, the trampoline and the double-mini. She earned medals in both.

Sam competed in the waiting event, earning honorable mention. It’s hard to wait an hour when you’re five. But she did an admirable job. She really wanted to jump into the pit of foam bricks, but had to settle for sneaking a quick touch.
